Workforce Development - Women Empowerment

Intern with a non-profit non-governmental organization dedicated to the well-being of children, youth, and women. This organization operates in Nyarushanje sub-county, Rukungiri district, with a field office in Nyarushanje and a coordination office in Kampala. Their vision is to create a society where children, youth, and women have access to education, health services, and skills that empower them for sustainable development.

The organization adopts a holistic community approach and operates through a community library and empowerment center. The community library serves as a centralized hub where children, youth, women, and community members can access a range of services, including education, skills development, and health resources.

Internship Opportunity in Uganda:

As part of the Socio-economic Empowerment and Skills Development project, the organization offers vocational and technical skills training, as well as entrepreneurship programs for youth and women. They facilitate connections between program participants and potential employers, offer career guidance, provide internship opportunities, and host dialogues with parents and caregivers to enhance support for skills development trainees.

The organization actively welcomes school dropouts, women, and other community members to participate in various training programs, including tailoring and fabric design, cooking and food hygiene, multimedia craft making, and building and construction. Uganda has one of the world's youngest populations, with 50% of Ugandans under the age of 15 and 78% below 30 years. The country faces challenges related to youth unemployment, with reports suggesting that 70% of Ugandan youth are not employed. Therefore, the organization's primary objective is to empower youth and women economically through these diverse skill development programs.
