Information

Upon receipt of your application, including application fee and reference documents…

Isla will confirm receipt of your application via email and will review all of your application materials.  If you are accepted, you will receive information regarding your placement within 2-4 weeks.

Within 1 week of acceptance...

you must confirm your participation in the program by signing a contract and paying a deposit of $300, which will be credited toward the total fee amount of your program.

Two months before the program begins…

Isla will conduct an interview with you to learn more about your goals, your understanding of our program and our expectations, and assess your language skills if applicable.  We will also answer any questions or concerns you have about our program and living abroad. This information will help us place you with the host organization that is most appropriate for your needs, interests, experience, time commitment, and skills.

Five to seven weeks before the program begins...

Isla will send you information regarding your host organization. 

Six weeks before the program begins...

you must submit the final balance of the fee payment to Isla.  Also, please note that it is your responsibility to arrange your flight, receive all necessary vaccinations, and secure your visa at least four weeks before your departure.  You will find information available on the website regarding visa and vaccination requirements as well as guidance on recommended flights and tips for international travel preparations.

Two weeks before the program begins…

Isla will send you your insurance card and your host family/housing information.  Isla recommends that you send us your flight information via email.

One week before the program begins…

Your five-day web-based interactive training in the Principles of Sustainable Community Development begins.  All you need is access to a computer in a location of your choice. This training occurs prior to your departure to your host country.
